Annually, in the town of Anghiari, Italy, the local people celebrate the famous Battle of Anghiari on June 29th, with the Palio della Battaglia, a costumed pageant taking place in the main square. Flag throwers entertain the crowd with these colourful flags. I look forward to visiting Tuscany again one day soon.

Are the flags flying?
yes – they throw them up in the air and catch them – a skill for sure. I was lucky to get a shot of a couple unfurled.
