Red-Spotted Purple

Red-Spotted Purple Butterfly

The Red-Spotted Purple is a beautiful brush-footed butterfly. Seen at Medway Creek in London, I am thinking that seeing so many more butterflies this year is because of the ban on pesticides for cosmetic use.

  1. I love this photo, Sheila. Did you desaturate the background? I like the contrast of brilliant color against a dull, monotone backdrop.

    • thank you – no manipulation at all but I exposed for its wings. I guess the butterfly is so blue and intense that the sunlight on the bg makes it look washed out. This guy was amazing posing for me, like it knew what I was doing and could sense to trust me.
