Fire Moss

Native to Canada and the US, and likely found all over the world, Fire Moss or Ceratodon purpureus, turns this lovely red colour in mid spring. Also known as Purple Horn Toothed Moss, it forms dense tufts and the stems grow from 1/2″ to 3″.

  1. Beautiful! I photographed the same thing here in Ireland a few weeks ago; didn’t know what it was called though. Nice to know; lovely shot.
