Patented in 1912, the Boyce Moto Meter was a thermometer that screwed into the radiator cap and read the engine's vapor temperature. Accessories such as these eagle wings were available and many car companies had special emblems custom made. Boyce, whose tag line was "Boyce Moto Meter Your Car Deserves One," pretty much cornered the market until the late 1920s when gauges were dashboard mounted and beautiful hood ornaments became the rage.
Nice bokeh 🙂
thanks – I thought the open hood mirrored the eagle wings nicely. thanks for stopping by Eden.
Very striking lines in this. I would love a car that colour yellow – beautiful.
thanks – it is very yellow!!! perhaps a little vintage Jag XKE V12 roadster in this colour would work?
I think that combination sounds perfect! Pity I’m the slowest driver in the world!
with a car like that, you would not be the slowest for long! LOL…
Very cool!
thanks Joleene!
Love it! You’ve the knack of showing these to the best advantage – and great subject too!
thanks eremophila – I’m just lucky to find interesting subject matter.
You sure know how to pick them! Stunning… 😉
thank you aj…I try to mix it up a bit. that way people will never know what to expect from my blog.
I ‘met’ 3 Rolls Royces this weekend gone by… I immediately tried to get the hood ornaments… not as sucessusfully as you but I may yet have one or two pictures to place in a post. The oldest RR was 1912! Thanks for showing me the way! 😉
wow that’s great aj!
I like it – composition and colors make for a great photo.
