August Sunflower

My neighbour recently gave me a bouquet of sunflowers - I looked after their cat while they were on holiday. Of course I took this opportunity to photograph these huge, happy flowers.

I didn’t know august sunflower.I always see it during the hot summer.

This is lovely. Sunflowers are so beautiful. I like the way you’ve composed this so that there are three arcs of colour.

Oh yes, I like that, that’s really lovely. The textures of the petals( oh those petals!)and the brown whatever-they-are’s in the flower’s centre provide a real contrast to each other – and the plain green background fits the rest of the picture absolutely perfectly. Excellent! Just out of interest, does this picture look the same (or worse or better) if horizontally reversed ie so that the green background is on the right? Good stuff! Adrian

thanks – they are really pretty petals – so many tones of yellow. I flipped it to see what you were asking… to me it looks about the same but I guess it would be a personal preference.. I am left handed so maybe that makes difference?
