The intense fall colour of the Burning Bush, Euonymus alatus, lights up the landscape with its pinks and reds. Native to eastern Asia, it is a deciduous shrub also known as Winged Spindle.
thanks joleen – this is my neighbor’s tree and it is many years old and has been kept really bushy. some years it is darker than others… maybe they need a certain type of soil to get really red ?
We have several burning bushes in our yard, but they never quite get all red. Thanks for sharing what they are suppose to look like.

Great colours! I don’t think I’ve seen one of these before. I’m not sure……
thanks – they are everywhere here – people use them as ornamental trees and they are now being considered somewhat invasive in natural areas.
What a great shot like fire. 🙂
thanks c – fire yes!
Fabulously vibrant!
thanks eremophila – lovely to see out my living room window each fall…
Glorious colour, simply glorious picture – and once more its putting you and colour together in the same place! Adrian
thanks Adrian – with this tree I’m lucky that it is a view from my front window – although on my neigbour’s front lawn, we get to enjoy its fall show.
Very pretty flowers
those are the leaves – they turn light green, then pink then dark red… quite the showy shrub. 😛
