Warm tones create a winter tapestry in the field at Westminster Ponds.

Imagery of Light 
I have a stem with one of these galls in a vase across the room. It certainly looks like the same thing. One of these days, I’m going to figure out what it is. In the meantime, it’s fun seeing a whole group of them. (It came from a similar environment: the edge of a slough.)
From what I’ve researched, these ones are created by goldenrod gall flies
