I didn’t realize there’s another ‘beauty berry’ in the world. Our beautyberry also has purple fruits, but the plant’s structure is quite different. Do you happen to know which species this is?
I’m pretty sure it’s Callicarpa dichotoma ‘Early Amethyst’ aka Purple Beautyberry. It’s a low growing shrub at the Civic Gardens here so in the spring I will see what it looks like and see if there is an ID tag on it since many of the plants there are identified since they are often hybrids, foreign, unusual etc. I’m thinking this is native to Asia.
