Day 5 – 5 Day B&W Challenge: Beautiful Contrast

Beautiful Contrast

It’s the fifth and final day of the B&W challenge from AJ . Thanks AJ, you’ve pushed my comfort level a bit. I’ve also been given another B&W challenge that’s a bit different but more on that in a few days!

Today, I’ve picked an image of trees and teasels in a winter landscape. Our weather forecast is for continuing warmth and finally some above freezing temps after tonight and if this is true, it looks as though this icy grip will be taking a hike giving way to spring.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

With so many great blogs that I follow, it is tough to pick just five bloggers to challenge and since we are so set in our ways, it’s hard to know who will wish to even be challenged.  Today, I extend the challenge to an interesting and unique ‘old school’ artistic photographer in Victoria, ehpem at Burnt Embers who shoots a lot of B&W with film cameras. Thanks to those who took up the challenge. Happy Friday! :-)

Day 4 – 5 Day B&W Challenge: Iced Trees

Iced Trees

It’s Day 4 of the B&W challenge from AJ at Ouch My Back Hurts  to post a black and white image for five consecutive days and challenge a fellow blogger each day. With any subject matter to choose from, I’ve picked an icy landscape from last winter that works well in black and white.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

Today, I invite a blogger who I’ve been following for several years now, a Scot living in Norway, Iain (Mjollnir MacAlba). His subject matter is always interesting and he shoots some stunning landscape images. Iain, I know you don’t usually post daily so if you’re into doing this challenge, feel free to do it at your own pace!

Day 3 – 5 Day B&W Challenge: Delicate Balance

Delicate Balance

I’ve accepted this, my first challenge, from AJ at Ouch My Back Hurts to post a black and white image for five consecutive days and challenge a fellow blogger each day. You can pick whatever subject matter you like. Today’s image is from last May when I did a series of black and white tulips as they dried. At the time, I did not like this image, but on second look, I quite like it now with its lopsided way. Funny that how images can grow on you.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

For my third day of this challenge, which is proving to be fun and interesting, I invite a blogger who does amazing work with natural subjects, a fellow Canadian, Victor. I admire your work Victor and I do hope you will take up this challenge, however it is supposed to be enjoyable so it’s totally fine if you do not wish to play! :-)

Day 2 – 5 Day B&W Challenge: Weathered

Weathered

I’ve accepted this, my first challenge, from AJ at Ouch My Back Hurts to post a black and white image for five consecutive days and challenge a fellow blogger each day. You can pick whatever subject matter you like. Today I’m choosing an image from the archives of an old painted door that’s seen better days.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

So, I agreed to take up the challenge and for my second day, I invite a blogger ‘from across the pond’ as AJ puts it, who I admire greatly for his artistic skill with a lens, Adrian. As a lover of black and white, I hope you will wish to participate Adrian. It’s fine if you do not. It’s supposed to be fun!

Day 1 – 5 Day B&W Challenge: Time Travel

June in My Mind

I’ve accepted this, my first challenge, from AJ at Ouch My Back Hurts to post a black and white image for five consecutive days and challenge a fellow blogger each day. With ‘Time Travel’ as the first subject, I’m travelling to June in my mind. :-) You can pick whatever subject matter you like.

There are only two rules for this challenge:

1. On 5 consecutive days, create a post using either a past or recent photo in B&W.
2. Each day invite another blog friend to join in the fun.

So, I agreed to take up the challenge and for my first day, I invite a blogger I have followed for many years who sees things in a wonderful way, Lynn, who has been surviving a most brutal winter on the eastern seaboard in the US (worse than here!). Lynn, I hope you will wish to participate with any subject matter that takes your fancy. It’s fine if you do not. It’s supposed to be fun!

Grey on Gray

Grey on Gray

Textured bark stands out in the forest. Not sure if this is a black cherry – has that look but will ask the expert at work. Also the spelling of grey or gray –  they both mean the same thing but British spelling is usually with an e and American with an a. I am surrounded by both spellings all the time and I think I generally use grey, likely because of Earl Grey and Greyhound. Go figure. :-)
