Sun lights up a Lenten rose or Helleborus x hybridus. A perennial plant in the buttercup family, these are always a joy to see in the early spring garden.

Super close on these tiny blooms getting ready to pop. This is a choke cherry shrub. Each little bud is less than 1/8th of an inch in size.

This beautiful native tree, Cercis canadensis, is a popular tree here. It is so bright and bold in May that it’s not hard to see why.

Magnolia Brown

I was able to visit the magnolia tree at the Civic Gardens and I’m sad to say that it did not do well after the snow we had. But, there is a certain majesty in its approach.
