Japanese Maple, or Acer palmatum, have been grown in temperate areas worldwide since the 1800s but have been cultivated in Japan for centuries. Native to Japan, North & South Korea, China, eastern Mongolia and southeast Russia, they turn an unbelievably rich, dark red orange colour in the fall.
