Whimsical Weathervane

Whimsical Weathervane

This interesting and fun weathervane sits atop the bandshell on the water at Gull Lake Park. I took this in dense fog and the moisture in the air created a vignetting effect. WordPress just told me this is my 730th post... that is two years of daily photo blogging. Thanks to everyone who visits! I am glad that you like my images - makes it all worthwhile.

Totem Pole

Totem Pole

Close on the top of a totem pole carved by well known Muskoka carver Wayne Hill, whose studio is located on Bethune Road just north of Gravenhurst. Although found in other parts of the world, Totem Poles in Canada originate with the indigenous people of the Pacific Northwest. They are monumental sculptures carved from large trees that can carry a wide variety of meanings including: legends, events, cultural expressions and artistic interpretations.
