Gairloch Inukshuk

Gairloch Inukshuk

Inuksuit (plural of Inukshuk) are man made stone landmarks originating with the peoples of the North American Arctic Region. The word means "in the likeness of a human" in the Inuit language. They are used as navigational aids, memorial markers for a loved one, or to indicate migration routes or places where fish may be found. Today they are used as a Canadian symbol. I came across this one recently at Gairloch Gardens in Oakville.
