Celosia and Bokeh

Celosia is an unusual looking ornamental fall flower. Its name comes from the Greek word kelos which means burned, referring to the flame-like flowers.

At this time of year you often see rose-like ornamental cabbage and kale amid the bold asters and mums. Kale has the frilly edges. It gets more colourful as it gets colder and it is edible.

Burning Bush

The intense fall colour of the Burning Bush, Euonymus alatus, lights up the landscape with its pinks and reds. Native to eastern Asia, it is a deciduous shrub also known as Winged Spindle.

Zebra Grass

This attractive ornamental Zebra Grass, is also called Miscanthus sinensis 'Zebrinus'. It is a herbaceous perennial that grows in dense clumps. Native to eastern Asia throughout China, Korea and Japan, recently it is considered an invasive plant in North America.
