Beautiful Lady

Beautiful LadyA favourite hood ornament, the Flying Lady, graces the hood of a 1931 Cadillac La Salle. I enjoyed the annual car show last week despite the fact that it was once again very sunny and dusty. 🙂 Lots of amazing art and design to be seen, and photographed.

Silver Edifice

Silver Edifice

This is a surface detail of a "modern" sculpture in Victoria Park, erected in 1950 and "Dedicated to the cultural enjoyment of the citizens of London." It is a large silver-coloured piece with this graffiti-like finish etched into its surface. From an artistic point of view, it was ahead of its time. I will do some research to find out who the artist was.

Trumpeter Swan

Trumpeter Swan

Before I tell you about today's image, I would like to say I have reached a milestone - 50,000 views. Since November 14, 2009 I have posted 621 images - one each day - this is image 622. I love taking pictures for this blog and I am grateful that so many people take the time to check them out - Thank You!

This image is of The Trumpeter Swan Sculpture in the Midland, Ontario Harbour that I took a few days ago. Created by artist Ron Hunt and erected in 2001 by the Town of Midland, it honours North America’s largest waterfowl the Trumpeter Swan, considered an endangered species in the 1980s. Thanks to the efforts of the Wye Marsh, their population has been nurtured back to health.
