Bee and Sweet Pea

Collecting pollen, a bee lingers on a sweet pea - Lathyrus latifolia. Native to Europe, sweet peas are naturalized all over North America. You can see why the flower's structure is called papilionaceous - meaning like a butterfly.

A perennial native to Europe, the Sweet Pea grows all over North America.

Also known as Lathyrus latifolius, this pretty plant adds colour to wildflower fields.
