Close on a native perennial in my garden, Turtlehead or Chelone obliqua. The common name is because the bloom looks like a turtle’s head and the genus name is after a nymph in Greek mythology, Chelone (kee-LO-nay) who refused an invitation to Zeus and Hara’s wedding so the God Hermes changed her into a turtle!
